Is the UK prepared for retirement?

A recent report has revealed that seven in 10 Britons have not planned for retirement and have no idea how they will cope financially.

According to the research, 16% of people take a day-to-day approach to money management and a third of the population (34%) feel totally unprepared financially for the future – or try not to think about it at all.

In this blog, we take a closer look at these disturbing statistics and explain why retirement planning is so important, irrespective of what age you might be. Read on to find out more.

Most people dream of a long, relaxed and secure retirement. Yet, despite this, latest figures suggest that 77% of Britons have no plan in place for life after work.

According to the study, 63% of adults live only for the moment rather than preparing for the future and more than one in four (27%) say they feel powerless over the direction of their lives.

One in five Britons (21%) admit to having no long-term financial plans in place, with women even less prepared than men – 39% compared to 26%.
